I would note other people had done this included Jack Benny, Kirk Douglas, and Tony Curtis.

Nixon supporters, like far-right populist Gerald L.K. Smith, encourage voters to reject the woman who sleeps with a Jew.

Though the Nixon campaign distanced itself from Smith, Nixon would often, allegedly, accidentally slip and call Mrs. Douglas Mrs. Hesselberg at rallies.

Nixon won the election, further strengthening his position within the Republican Party.

A seven-story statue of Jesus Christ has loomed over Eureka Springs for 60 years.

The Christ of the Ozarks was a project of the Elna M. Smith Foundation, which was led by the wife of Gerald LK Smith, who gained prominence as an anti-Semitic minister and political agitator in the 1930s.

Weighing almost two million pounds, it stands on a foundation of 320 tons of concrete with reinforcing steel, and was built to withstand winds of 500 miles an hour.

It has a two-foot rectangle in the top of the head for pressure equalization in case of a tornado.
