Lesson five comes from GeoTrust, a company I founded and was forced out of.

With a friend, I founded GeoTrust in 1999.

Initially, he was the CEO and I was COO.

We had two pivots that failed to work.

But if I was terminated without cause, I could.

In a simple conversation about how it was not that pleasant an environment for me to be in anymore and what could we do about that, I was hinting that maybe he would terminate me without cause.
