I probably shouldn't bring up, uh, another newspaper, but George Will, who writes for another Washington newspaper, had a great article the other day about, um, the realities of if China moves on Taiwan, say, next year, as President Xi had told the military to be ready to do.

Well, uh, you know, I've talked to the commander of the US Pacific Command, Admiral Sam Paparo, and he's pretty convinced he could defeat the Chinese, but at a great cost.

The undecided voters are hearing that this party sort of hates itself more than it wants to win.

Now, then we've got the George Will factor, George Will, someone who I've known for years and respected and who, you know, I was one of the first political conservatives that I ever studied when I was a young man.

He has now crossed over the Great Plain, says that he has endorsed Annie Andrews.

the Democrat, over Darlene Graham, the Republican in South Carolina.

George Will wrote that South Carolinians can demonstrate political independence by electing the Democrat.

He said the state is as red as the cheeks of a blushing Senate candidate who promises to serve as an enabler of presidential whims.

He called her debate performance cringeworthy after she said she was not that informed on national security.

Now, Dan McCarthy is right.

But then he gets to his main point, foreign policy, and, and this is a speech given to the National Association of Evangelicals, so mainly Protestant pastors.

And then he says at that point, um, you know, "But if you want to see real evil today," right, "the focus of evil in the modern world is the Soviet Union." And, a- and at that point, Reagan is trying to, in the words of George Will, trying to remoralize the Cold War conflict.

And, and Reagan says, "Beware of this moral equivalency to, to blithely say that both sides are morally culpable or morally equal." He's saying, "No, America might have its sins, but we're certainly far better than what they have in the Soviet Union." So, you know, that's kind of a turning point.

At that point, that's a few years after the death of Fulton Sheen.

It's awful.

But the Taiwan situation is probably front and center because what people need to understand is that China has always thought Taiwan is part of China.

China has always felt that Taiwan is a renegade province.

needs to be reunited with the motherland when in reality taiwan has been a separate society now for over 60 years so it's it's a little bit um fundamental in terms of how the chinese view this situation and you're right george will is certainly right that if a u.s president had to face the question of what to do about a military set of activities involving taiwan there are no good answers in that situation.
