George Tuska

No less than Mike Ploog, who I have sung his praises, uh, was, was, was contributing to original stories.

But George Tuska, who was a, uh, uh, a Bronze Age kind of, uh, standout, d- uh, Iron Man, did Champions, did all manner of different books.

Uh, Mr. George Tuska is, is the man that, that brings us the art and stylings for the Abs- the, the Planet of the Apes adaptation.

So, uh, as much as I enjoy this, it's not-- I, I don't high...

I, I don't, I don't, uh, put it higher up the food chain.

And then he'd do simpler stuff just to give the guys the storytelling.

I think he did some layouts for George Tuska on Captain America, I believe.

So, you know, Stan just thought, you know, Kirby was the best dynamic guy and a terrific storyteller and tried to use every ounce of him that he could use to get all the other artists who were, you know, working for Marvel at the time to, you know, to do that kind of thing.

He may have even done some layouts for Dick Ayers.

Anyway, drawn by George Tuska, who's been doing Iron Man lately.

Again, not somebody that I'm familiar with.

All of our artists are free agents and can turn down any assignment they wish.

However, we have been fortunate enough to have the talents of George Tuska and Vince Coletta on our lead feature for a few issues now, and we think the combination is just right for Bob's current stories.

We're additionally proud since this art team is the same on DC's new nationally syndicated newspaper strip, The World's Greatest Superheroes.

It is written by Martin Pascoe.

I think that was why Marvel was so special in the '60s and early '70s, because each artist had his own way of storytelling.

You could have given a Stan Lee plot to Gene Colan, Jack Kirby, trying to think of someone off the top of my head, George Tuska, and you would have got a completely different story pacing and image choices from each one of those.

So each artist had a chance to put their character into the book.

And I, that was what I wanted, really, was to be able to tell a story my way.

Let's go with that.

So let's go and do The Invincible Iron Man, once more the Mandarin, a Marvel march into menace led by Stanley Edler, Archie Goodwin writer, George Tuska artist, Johnny Craig Inker, Artie Simek letterer.

So it's good that we still have Goodwin on this book, even though we lost him on Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I continue to like the Tuska-Craig team pretty good.
