Genma Saotome

From China.

Eventually it's revealed that while Ranma and Genma were in China, after they got cursed, but before they returned to Japan, they were going through the Chinese Amazon village as guests.

As a girl and a panda, because no men allowed.

And Ranma got into some problems.

All right.

She is another cursed character.

She has her own Jusankyo curse, just like Ranma and Genma.

She turns into a cat.

The sources highlight how the original author, Rumiko Takahashi, basically used these springs to physicalize character flaws.

Like Ranma's dad, Genma, falls into the spring of Drowned Panda.

Which creates this incredibly absurd visual comedy right off the bat.

But it really serves to set the stage for the main conflict back in Japan at the Tendo Dojo.
