Genesis 43

So working again on the Hebrew here.

It's also asked why below in Genesis 43, the sons of Jacob say in the presence of Joseph, when we came to the lodging place, we opened our sacks, when here only one is said to have opened his sacks.

So there's a question about, right here it says they loaded the ground, but one of them opened his sack.

It says here, but when you go down to Genesis 43 and they're telling the story, it says we opened our sacks.

In both places, it said that they were all terrified.

Genesis 43, verse 14.

Joseph's brothers were soon obliged to go again and buy more corn in Egypt.

Joseph had said they must bring the young brother they had told him of, or he should not believe their story, and when they said Benjamin must go, their father Jacob was greatly grieved, and showed how little he could trust them now, after the way they had behaved to Joseph.

And Benjamin, the youngest brother, his plate was triple full everybody else's plate.

And they were asking themselves, what's going on? What's going on? And then right around Genesis 43 or something, it happens.

It's after dinner drinks, I think.

They've had a little bit to drink, so everybody's a little loose.

Check me out," right? You know, one of those people that gets to the top and has a chip on their shoulder because they started at the bottom, right? Would he be arrogant? Well, today's readings as we finish off our little series, okay? And if you've got a Bible on you, you can grab it, okay? We're walking through three whole chapters, okay? Genesis 43, 44, and 45.

Okay, three whole chapters of Genesis we're gonna make our way through this morning, okay? And just to recap in case you missed some of the previous week, we've had three moments in his life up until now.

The first one was the pit.

His father's favorite son, his brothers betray him.

And so that's where we left things off last week, okay? And the question is, what's gonna happen now? I mean, uh, you couldn't predict what would happen next, right? This story has been up and down and up and down and up and down.

What's gonna happen now, and what are we gonna take from it all? Well, as we look at these three chapters today, okay, I think we're gonna look at three scenes and two takeaways, right? Three scenes, two takeaways, and that's where we're headed.
