Genesis 41

Write that down for your knowledge.

You find that in Genesis chapter 14 from verse 18.

The first personality in scripture that is called priest is the man Melchizedek.

The Bible called him king of Salem and that he brought forth bread and wine and he was the priest of the Most High.

I just thought to digress us for a moment to put perspective to this.

Number two is the Melchizedek priesthood, what the Bible calls a royal priesthood.

Now, this priesthood, you see, predates the Aaronic priesthood or the Levitical priesthood because in Genesis chapter fourteen, at that time, Abraham had not even started the business of children.

Are we together now? So it had to be Abraham, Isaac, then Jacob, who later became Israel, and then his twelve sons, out of which Levi came, Aaron came, and then the Aaronic priesthood.

Genesis 41 from verse 29 down to 57, the last verse.

That tells you the story of, the redeeming story of J- of Joseph.

By 29, Joseph is telling the king a dream.

And you can read about Joseph in the book of Genesis, one of the greatest types of Christ in all the Old Testament, and how he took a Gentile bride...

Genesis 41 you know what that is that's a little picture of Christ and his church and you turn over the book of Ruth and read about Boaz the kinsmen Redeemer and this lowly outcast who becomes his bride and Boaz and Ruth you know what you're reading about you're reading about Christ and the church and And then you come to Daniel chapter number 9 and you're going through the prophecy in 70 weeks and this many weeks until the command to restore the temple and then this many weeks until Messiah the Prince is cut off and you go 69 weeks through and then it stops.

And God stops the clock.

And there's this gap and there's this pause and then the Antichrist arises in the end of Daniel chapter 9 and makes a covenant with the people of Israel and that starts the 70th week.

It was the custom in some parts for the bridegroom to place a ring upon his intended bride's finger, although there is no mention in the Bible of betrothal finger rings.

We find that a ring is mentioned therein as a token of fidelity or friendship, Genesis 41, 42, and of adoption, Luke 15, 22.

Between the betrothal and the marriage an interval elapsed, varying from a few days in the patriarchal age, ten in the case of Rebecca, to a year for virgins and a month for widows in later times.

During this period the bride elect lived with her friends, and all communication between herself and her future husband was carried on through the medium of a friend, who was deputed for the purpose and termed the friend of the bridegroom.

Somewhere inside the fruit, saints, of these first eight years is the seed for the next eight years.

That's good because in Genesis chapter 1, It says that on the third day, Yahweh caused vegetation to rise up, to spring up from the ground.

The vegetation which yields seed and the fruit trees which produce fruit in which is their seed.

But we'll get back to that subject a little more later.

The sons and daughters of God.

Yeah.

In Genesis 1, it says that you would have these seasons that would be markers for you.

The sun and the moon would be markers for you, for you to understand where you are at in the span of time.

We talked about the chief minister in Isaiah chapter 22 or Joseph in Genesis 41.

And of course, St. Peter in Matthew 16, the design of the one, the three, the 12 and the 70 in the Old Testament brought to its fullness in the new because David is the key.

And as the angel Gabriel said to the Blessed Virgin Mary in Luke 1, that her child will sit on the throne of David forever, and he will be the son of the Most High God.

I mean, the rise in Joseph's life could only be described in today's passage as meteoric, right? Meteoric.

I mean, take the end of Genesis 40 and the first verse in Genesis 41, okay? This is what it says.

"The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him." Next verse.

"When two full years had passed." Right? He's in prison, forgotten.

Now, I don't know about you, but two years, especially in a prison, is a very, very long time.

Like, that's not a rosy picture, right? Forgotten, languishing in a prison cell.

Uh, but yet, by verses 41 and 43 of Genesis 41, this is the picture.

"So Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.' Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph's finger.
