Martin ButlerHOST

I programmed up a lot of repeaters and did use it on the amateur bands.
Martin ButlerHOST
8:13
However, I also programmed in the GMRS frequencies, didn't use them, didn't transmit on them anyway.
Martin ButlerHOST
8:21
I did listen a couple of times, see what was happening.
Martin ButlerHOST
8:24
But I'd be a naughty boy today, wouldn't I, Dan?
BillAUDIENCE
22:28
They're available.
BillAUDIENCE
22:30
It beats GMRS and all the dune buggy guys.
BillAUDIENCE
22:34
Because, you know, when that happens, everybody's going to jam those frequencies if there's an emergency.
BillAUDIENCE
22:39
Yeah,
Freddie MacPANELIST
7:58
Well,
FrankHOST
7:59
ham radio, these guys already do GMRS and CB, and they already used to radio things.
FrankHOST
8:06
We just need to kind of help them come over and give them that reason to go study.
FrankHOST
8:10
I'm not trying to force the test down the throat.
FrankHOST
8:13
I'm just trying to spark that interest, right? Sure.
PaulPANELIST
8:18
Yeah, I mentioned earlier, I think the first question he's going to get is, why should we use that since we have GMRS? Well, that's definitely the first question.
TimPANELIST
8:28
And I think that's the question you need to answer right off the bat is why.
TimPANELIST
8:35
Because relatively speaking, GMRS and 70-centimeter ham radio, there's no difference.
James WaltonHOST
16:47
But the whole process, you know what I mean? All of that, I'm not, it's like I always tell you, I know you know how to do it, but where we're at right now is, are you going to do it? You know what I mean? I know you can figure out how to make a whatever that you want to make.
James WaltonHOST
17:07
create an emergency plan, you know, build out your own pace plan, learn the ham radio, learn the GMRS, get the license, all that kind of stuff.
James WaltonHOST
17:17
Like I know you can learn how to, you learn how to do anything on YouTube.
James WaltonHOST
17:21
The question is, are you going to do it? And what I found is no, you know what I mean? No, no, I'm not going to do it.

29 MINS LATER

James WaltonHOST
46:29
U.S. Ditch Doc says, and she has to have a license.
James WaltonHOST
46:33
We'll go with that.
James WaltonHOST
46:34
That's the right thing to say, right? GMRS for local is king.
James WaltonHOST
46:39
That is true.
DaveGUEST
23:12
Amateur radio, law enforcement.
DaveGUEST
23:16
Uh, public report, GMRS came through social media, whatever you want to put in there.
DaveGUEST
23:21
And also we can put in here anything else you want in there.
DaveGUEST
23:26
I got my cat blocks on.
JeanetteHOST
16:09
And do you plan on doing any emergency stuff or poda, parks on the air, being a storm spotter? So what got you interested in ham radio?
PatrickGUEST
16:23
I started off in the GMRS radio and radio.
PatrickGUEST
16:29
became a storm spotter through Skywarn and figured I just needed to start expanding and ham radio is that expansion so my boss got his ham license and he did tech and general within a few months and So far, just tech with me, but I plan on moving up.
PatrickGUEST
17:00
And basically, it's something that's been a passion for a while that I wanted to do.
VirgilHOST
63:12
come through that Magic PTT.
VirgilHOST
63:15
They also have listening channels there and also some GMRS channels and some public channels where you don't require a license, etc.
VirgilHOST
63:27
But anyway, it's got a lot of activity and things of that sort.
VirgilHOST
63:36
And it is available on all platforms.
JacobUNKNOWN
15:26
Yeah, Roger, thanks for coming back to me there.
JacobUNKNOWN
15:30
I know it might be frowned upon on this frequency, but there is a big GMRS group around here, and they do a lot of weather spotting and reporting and – As a family, you can get that, and everyone can use it as an immediate family.
JacobUNKNOWN
15:56
So, yeah, that's all I had to add.
JacobUNKNOWN
15:59
Thanks for letting me back in there.

I made a video about this a couple of weeks ago and you guys had some really good comments.

We had a good discussion in my email list.
JasonHOST
4:08
I got an email about a system in Arizona just the other day.
JasonHOST
4:11
I might make a video about it.
JasonHOST
4:13
There are other linked repeater systems, but I am not aware of anyone else who's doing the irresponsible and gatekeeping, I'm going to use that word, gatekeeping process that North Georgia GMRS is doing where you link all eight repeater channels together and then you try to charge people to use them.
JasonHOST
4:31
over such a wide area you've got one channel because all eight channels are linked together and now you're trying to charge people to use them okay and in my opinion that's gatekeeping that's what that is okay you're trying to tell everyone gmrs is a general mobile radio service that's open to anyone with a license but you're telling everyone that no one can use all eight channels because you already have claimed them which you don't have the right to do and someone has to pay you to get on your repeater network that's what i'm against I'm not against necessarily linking.
JasonHOST
4:57
Like I said in the last video that I made, I think they should just pick a channel, 21, 22, whatever, and say, okay, you want to link? Do it on this channel.
