Now, the second story, and again, this is towards the end of the interview that I want to make sure y-you pay attention to.

Sadia shares the true story of a Sudanese woman, uh, who of course, for security and privacy reasons remains anonymous, but who survived the Geneina massacre in two thousand twenty-three.

And again, I think you need to hear this from Sadia and not myself, but this is a harrowing and very humane look, uh, at what is actually happening behind the headlines and behind the statistics that Take up so much attention in the news.

Now additionally, we hear from Sadia about the truth of the war in Sudan, meaning the role of foreign intervention in prolonging the war and worsening the humanitarian crisis there, the reality of the war on Sudanese civilians, how Hope and Haven is helping Sudanese children, the different types of aid that they're providing, and much more.

So our work began in twenty twenty-three when the war erupted in Sudan.

Uh, it was just only an initiative to do something about the war that's happening and to try to figure out what can we do because us Sudanese who are not living in Sudan, and we wanted to do something.

So I started an initiative, and that initiative happened after the massacre that happened in Al Geneina.

That horrible massacre was, like, silenced by everyone outside.

It remains to be seen whether this public opposition will manifest as a new drive to reduce the US military presence in Japan, though given the current Japanese government's proclivities and its tense relations with China, that seems unlikely.

In Africa, in Sudan, uh, the Sudan Tribune is reporting that there's been, quote, "fierce fighting," end quote, between Rapid Support Forces militants and government-aligned Joint Forces Militia, uh, units this week near the capital of West Darfur State, Geneina.

Uh, the Joint Forces group has made gains in West Darfur in recent months, confounding the RSF's efforts to fully consolidate control of the Darfur region.

Elsewhere, DropSite's Anub Alman reports that the RSF refused to aid rescue efforts amid a massive gold mine collapse in West Kordofan State last month.
