Gene Smithson

Sasha ranks 15th in Shocker history both, with 1,463 points and 710 rebounds, and it's a pretty select list of former Shockers who are in the top 15 of both.

Sasha played for Gene Smithson as a freshman, the remainder of his career with Coach Eddie Fogler.

He is originally from Podgorica.

Did I pronounce that correctly? I worked on that a lot.

And then, uh, uh, uh, that year, my last year playing in Yugoslavia, I played with, uh, on the same team with Zarko Zursic, who actually came from Wichita State to play with me.

So I asked Zarko to h- to help me out, to help me out, to, mm, try to somehow make it happen for me to go play for Wichita State.

So what he did, he invited, uh, Gene Smithson because then even the videos were not available.

Y- I mean, everything was so difficult.
