The most cited never return to the Moon story involves Gene S- Eugene Cernan, the commander of Apollo 17, which was the last crewed landing in, uh, December 1972.

Um, there was a Japanese guy, again being interviewed by Jesse Michaels, who claimed that Cernan privately described a telepathic message from an alien intelligence telling humanity not to come back to the Moon.

Cernan died in 2017 without ever making any kind of statement publicly to confirm that assertion.

But there was one big setback.

Cernan's attempt to roam in space with a Buck Rogers pack in his back was blocked when his visor frosted over.

Duct tape also helped save a lunar expedition on Apollo 17 after an astronaut accidentally damaged a moon rover.

In December of 1972, the astronaut Eugene Cernan accidentally broke off the right rear fender of the lunar roving vehicle with a hammer while he was walking near the rover.

Without the fender, the rover's wheels threw abrasive lunar dust over the astronauts, their instruments, and the rover's heat radiators as it moved.

Now, a bit of dust being kicked up might not sound like a big deal, but since there's no water flowing on the moon, there's no erosion to wear down the edges, which means moon dust has sharp edges that can pose a serious threat to equipment operations and mission safety.
