What's the importance of that distinction that is there?

Well, I mean, at the importance of the distinction, and, you know, this is clearly picked up in, you know, Geerhardus Vos and, and Herman Bavinck and so on, that I'm, you know, greatly indebted to, uh, you know, I'm basically [chuckles] in terms of my doctrine of creation, uh, you know, following them and, and reform theology at this point.

But their point is, is that we are made as creatures.

The covenant is added in the sense that it, it... you have to make a logical distinction.

What does that phrase mean, and how do we distinguish biblical theology from other disciplines like church history or historical theology or systematic theology?

You know, it's a discipline that really began to be developed in a pioneering way by Geerhardus Vos when he entered, uh, Princeton Seminary and gave an inaugural lecture and began to develop the actual discipline of biblical theology.

There are several ways to contrast it with other disciplines.

One way is that systematic theology, which is a discipline we probably all understand more intuitively, is a topical study of the Bible.

And those topics are all taught in various places in the scriptures, and we can focus in on particular biblical texts that tell us about God, man, sin, Christ, salvation, and the last things.

And that is a wonderfully life-giving way of understanding the Bible because it helps us become systematically aware, uh, topically aware of what the Bible teaches.

Uh, Geerhardus Vos, in his early years, uh, wrote a dogmatic theology, the Reformed Dogmatics.
