that's understandable so who knows what's going to happen in the future jay jay bourne and jb promotions and their matchmaking team certainly haven't got a massive amount in around that weight so maybe we could who knows but that's for those guys to deal with and what a job they're doing right now as well before i close this episode down i want to again remind people if you can at all please like share and subscribe i would ask you to leave a comment i would give you a click the follow button whether it's on spotify whether it's on itunes whether it's on iheart radio anywhere like that please i would ask you if just do it that's the only one thing i would ask if you can at all spare a second or a Now I guess the not so fun part of boxing is the danger, is the very real jeopardy with every training session, every sparring session, every fight indeed that comes and I harp back of course I go back to our friend, our fallen comrade.

Lee Reeves who 60 days ago since he battled Gary Cully in an epic encounter in my book it's fight of the year already but it's irrelevant really to be honest with you boxing is irrelevant what really matters now is Lee's grave battle for life and make no mistake about it it is a battle.

My fear was that it would be like Katie's first homecoming when Dennis Hogan got beaten, right? And Gary Cully got beaten and there was a few other kind of hairy moments there too.

No to be fair Kev and I think Eddie said it from day one this was going to be an event of Irish culture and it was going to be an event and he kept saying the word event this is going to showcase Ireland and I think it did you know you had obviously Westlife there you had Mary and the Wallopers there you had the two ladies singing the grace and then the national anthem and Even the lighting display around the stadium on the night, I thought it was fantastic.

But when you're sitting there in the ground, whether you're sitting there in either the stadium or the small hall and you're waiting for the fight you've been looking forward to happening, and then the fireworks going off, it was a nice touch, yeah.
Jay ByrneGUEST

Kevin ByrneHOST

yeah so it's been a mad summer like you say and you've had to you've had to sorry pardon me I've got a bit of a froggy joke but you've had to kind of shift your business left and right to deal with it all but like I want to touch on a bit of fighter safety before we move on as well because we saw the I was with you backstage and we were all kind of shifting around trying to like what are we going you know how do you react to this what happened to Lee Reeves and he's still in a he's still in a bad way Lee Reeves after his fight with Gary Cully and I remember you and Dee Waltz were particularly horrified, not that you needed any more reason to be, because only a couple of months before, in April, you were through a brain injury with your brother, Glenn Byrne, as well.

Talk to me about that, please, there.
