I know him well.

Gary Burr.

I brought him to town.

I didn't know that.

He was so far ahead of where the writing community was in Nashville, and they're in the can.

But I called a meeting when I really couldn't, my publishing companies weren't big enough to handle what I could see in Gary.

So I called, there were five different publishing companies out in my office, and we started playing Gary Burr material.

And Noel Fox signed him with the Universal.

I've always liked his songs, but his work with the Eagles is just phenomenal.

But it's going to have prolific guys like Nashville Hitmakers, Gary Burr.

Before the song became a legend, the band had already learned how to survive by being overlooked, right? Mm-hmm.

So the name came from, you'll like this, Dirk, a movie reference.

And it sounded so good.

So good.

Gary Burr, who was a major Nashville songwriter, launched out of PPL.

He was the guy that came through and replaced Vince Gill from 82 to 85.
