Uh, It is still a bullpen role that the Red Sox envision.

But 45 to 50 pitches tells me that they really might be – this seems like the Red Sox are trying to do what I've mentioned before, which is put him in the – I would say the Garrett Whitlock role from 2021.

I wouldn't say something – normally I would say the Andrew Miller role from back in the day, but I don't – because he's coming back from injury, I imagine it'll be more – mapped out the way that it was with Whitlock as opposed to Miller, which is, you know, he'd throw two innings on Monday, two innings on Tuesday.

And, you know, it was like he was a full go.

But it is similar in the sense that you keep adding to a young core, right? You have Abreu, you have Raffaella, you have Roman Anthony, you have Peyton Tully.

And in prior to 2025, you added Chapman to sort of stabilize the back end of your bullpen to go along with Garrett Whitlock.

And then this offseason... you learned from one of the issues that you had in 2025, which is you didn't have pitching depth by the time you got to the postseason.

You had all these injuries.

You know.

healthy right at this moment so basically he's on the shelf with the lat issue the Red Sox turned to Eric Miller for the ninth inning to protect the team's four to one lead and it turned out pretty dramatic because Miller threw two wild pitches and then loaded the bases and somehow some way he limited the damage to just one run and he got the win for the Red Sox they are inching closer towards punching their spot in the American League playoffs Miller and Garrett Whitlock, those two guys are the top closer options for the Red Sox for as long as they keep out Chapman.

But Chapman is on the record saying that he's not worried at all about the injury and he plans to pitch again this week, this coming week.

So according to A World is Chapman, he's not hurt.

Inning-wise, pitching-wise, strikeout-wise.

But unfortunately, even after eight solid innings, one run, no walks, 11 strikeouts, you want to know who comes in? Garrett Whitlock.

I have faith in this guy, but for some reason, he just decided yesterday was not his day.
