Also, local stakeholders, mothers groups, literally, called Ama Samuha, they implement certain coordinated efforts, orientation groups, programs waste segregation local tea houses they're monitoring them to ensure that those tea houses are utilizing proper waste disposal methods rather than open burning and this is a biggie a lot of people put the blame and the onus on the white rich westerners coming in and trashing an area where the fact is is that a lot of the locals don't have the resources to handle the the increased waste and accumulation of, say, plastic bottles.

This is something that Garrett Madison's foundation, the Madison Mountaineering Foundation, is working to try to change in the Everest Khumbu region by implementing water ATMs where people will go and pay 100 rupees for a bottle of water they'd use a reusable bottle as opposed to buying an actual plastic bottle.

Madison and the CEO of the organization, Gavin Atwood, he's told me that this could reduce the number of plastic bottles bought and sold and discarded in just one village, tens of thousands per year.
