Gardnerian Wicca

Witchcraft is a much can be a very big umbrella term.

So you can have Gardnerian witches.

You can have, you know, like I said, you can have Wiccan people.

There's all kinds of different ways.

A lot of structures, I will say too, also have a third degree, but our system, our initiatory tradition has removed the third degree out of sort of solidarity with people who were victimized through that third degree.

So traditionally, the third degree coming out of Gardnerian Wicca is the great right, which is kind of illicit in a lot of application.

It doesn't have to be, but it is essentially the expectation of Relations with your high priest and or priestess.

Yeah.

So, for today's wonderful episode, I'm happy to welcome Deborah Lipp, who I'm sure many of my listeners are familiar with, as she is a witch, high priestess, tarot reader, and teacher who has been practicing for more than 40 years.

She became a Gardnerian witch and high priestess in the 80s, and over the decades, she has written extensively about ritual and magical practice, as well as divination.

Her many books include The Elements of Ritual, The Way of Four, Tarot Interactions, a favorite of mine, Bending the Binary, and her latest book, Roadmap by Moonlight, A Guide to Wicca for Life.

There is a lot of those topics from her books that we cover in this conversation, including the idea of what it means to be psychic, how we interact with tarot as an art form, tradition versus innovation, and how we learn to recognize the differences between intuitive hits, and our own projections, as well as, of course, what has changed within the magical community to make us all more inclusive and better understanding of the true natures of polarity underlying alchemy and many other of the ancient arts.

I try to be really respectful of the fact that people live in the real world.

I have some questions that tie into divination from that, but I will wait a sec before we go there, because I think the other piece that you're touching on is changes.

And you have been a Gardnerian high priestess for many years now, and therefore that is a form of the occult that is changing.
