Her vases are there, and her notebooks, and photographs of her flowers.

And on the walls hang four paintings by Gluck, among them Flora's Cloak.

So that is the word this story uses.

I started in my very early 20s with a course at Cape Brown Manor College in horticulture.

And then went from there to the Garden Museum to do a year as their trainee, which was quite an interesting experience.

And that kind of combined my sort of passions for history and for plants.

And then after that, I just did private horticulture for years because I found you could get more money and more flexibility working on big private estates, going up to head gardener level.
