yeah for sure um speaking of that violence you just mentioned uh there was quite the controversy uh with gta3 and its release um Many publications came out and said it was too offensive or reprehensible.

GameSpy, excuse me, called it a most offensive game of the year and reprehensible.

American retailer Walmart made people show ID when purchasing games.

They Shearer Chess identified the lack of consequence to player violence because they would just do things and then either just go to the hospital and get back out.

We had another one.

GameSpy came out with theirs.

Only aims as high as its stout hero.

That is not high.

I mean, you could try to be sneaky and rip it open in the store, but it meant that you actually had to bring it home, even if that's the only thing you were interested in.

Is that why you get later on in different gaming things where it's like game secrets, and it's always, like, some spy or something that's handing you an envelope or something? I'm thinking, like, GameSpy in the '90s and early 2000s.

Stuff like that, where it's just like, let's just have this whole spy motif, and does that draw its roots from this?

Although I think Extreme G eventually came to PlayStation, didn't it? I think they eventually ported it to PlayStation.

Flashback, no. Abe's Odyssey, no. Headhunter, no. Headhunter is one of the games I reviewed for GameSpy back in the day, though.

Far Cry, Blood Dragon, nope.
