But they were, to keep the rights to make the movie, they were basically desperately trying to shoot some plates of Gallifrey in Utah with Nimoy directing them just so that they would extend their rights period because they were in active production.

But I don't think Nimoy ever actually had a proper conversation about doing the TV movie, I think.

I mean, he would have done a great job.

There's some that are just, they're pushing their luck quite a bit.

And how they want you to phonetically see some of these things, like Gallifrey.

Well, this is the thing, like, you know, in a virgin age of adventure, but also, like, the names of places, because a lot of this is set on Gallifrey, as you can expect, but we can't call it Gallifrey.

It seems to be having this sort of renaissance, doesn't it? People saying how it rejects the usual boring Gallifrey story.

It's doing a good impression for where I'm sitting.

It's just a remarkable synthesis of high concept theoretical physics and very grounded, almost gritty human reality.

Yeah, and to understand how a broke backpacker losing his path port on Earth connects to the potential end of the universe, we first have to look at the ultimate biometric hack on the planet Gallifrey.

Right, deep beneath the capital of the Time Lords.

Yeah, in this hidden sterile chamber, you've got this traitorous Time Lord meeting with a cloaked, masked alien from another dimension.

But yet, despite the perfect target, the theft is detected.

And the cover up of this hack is where the sterile, enlightened facade of Gallifrey really starts to crack.

We often, I'm going to talk about Gallifrey One a little bit here, in that, you know, it's a weird place in that this small little convention, this giant convention that's also small, bigger on the inside, every February, is sort of like becomes the epicenter of Doctor Who, even when the show was being made, like it just felt like everyone was sort of like focusing on Gallifrey One for a bit, because all the creatives sort of go there and hang out and everything.

And, you know, the fact that the award decision will be announced the month after that, and the tender interviews will be done by the time it happens, like how much by then will the lobby, you know, lobby con Gallifrey one, 2027, if that's an incentive to get tickets, folks, there might be scuttlebutt or something perhaps going on on the floor after a couple of drinks of, uh, I've got Gallifrey one, which would be quite intriguing.

You know, that's, Now there's suddenly sort of like a buzz about it.

At first it felt like Gallifrey is winding down with a couple more conventions as the show is winding down, but now it's not.

Now it's actually not.

It's so funny that Gallifrey 1 will sort of bookend it from the end of the classic series all the way through all the revival and stuff like that, and it will actually end- thing is just as another new one is ramping up which is kind of poetic in a way uh and so yeah now i'm suddenly looking forward to lobby club conversations in february 2027 uh seven to uh to see what happens with dr who so yeah you and i already have our tickets maybe maybe we'll find out some information i do have my ticket um
