Kevin HinesHOST
56:32
He asks if we ever read an unusual comics crossover that sounds weird on paper but actually ends up being good.
Will HinesHOST
56:39
Um, Squirrel Girl fighting Galactus worked pretty good.
Will HinesHOST
56:42
I mean, that's kind of a crossover.
Kevin HinesHOST
56:44
Yeah.
Lee EberhartGUEST
40:28
It's like a '70s go-go dancer with kabuki.
Lee EberhartGUEST
40:31
Number nine is The Last Galactus Story by John Byrne and Terry Austin.
Lee EberhartGUEST
40:35
This one was partially published in Marvel Epic Illustrated Magazine where thousands of years after all life on Earth has been wiped out, Galactus came back to feed and was brought into conflict with a rogue Watcher who proclaimed, "Has it been so long you no longer recall the face of the ones who created you?" After this cliffhanger ending to the first chapter, Epic Illustrated ceased publication.
Lee EberhartGUEST
40:56
In February of 1986, and the story was never finished.
Lee EberhartGUEST
40:59
According to a Wizard in- interview with John Byrne in 1993, "I've always said I'd only feel comfortable finishing the story if I was doing Fantastic Four because so much of it is integral in part of the Fantastic Four mythos." But Byrne had no issue with spoiling the plot points, explaining that in culmination of the fight with The Watcher lasting millions of years, Galactus consumes all the energy around him and destroys The Watcher with it.
Lee EberhartGUEST
41:22
Still filled with energy, Galactus' last act is to crack open his own helmet and release the energy inside him, creating a big bang that births the next universe.
Lee EberhartGUEST
41:32
There was a lot going on in this story that it would've changed Marvel tenfold.
Lee EberhartGUEST
41:36
I'm kind of glad it didn't get finished.
Christopher CantwellGUEST
24:57
Victor is so convinced that what he's doing is right.
Christopher CantwellGUEST
25:00
For himself, or even if it is to control the world, again, to go back to that love of his people, he's the best version of a ruler that anyone could have, if that means the entire universe, right? Whether it be becoming, you know, fighting the Beyonder and looking for those powers or, you know, taking Galactus and trying to harvest the energy.
Christopher CantwellGUEST
25:19
He's doing something that he sincerely believes in, right? He's not...
Christopher CantwellGUEST
25:24
soulless.

9 MINS LATER

Christopher CantwellGUEST
34:11
You're actually, he started a production company.
Christopher CantwellGUEST
34:12
So we were talking about a project that we're doing together and he's a comic book freak.
Christopher CantwellGUEST
34:18
And we were talking about Galactus and Thanos and he was like, who cares about those guys he's like the most powerful villain in marvel history is korvac and we started talking about it and he was telling me the story and i went back and read the saga and this was before iron man i was like oh my god like yeah well this is an incredible the korvac saga is like what crazy kind of story was this that they did back then and I was even flirting with, I was like, how's there a way to get him in towards the end of the arc of doom? Like we've got to do something with this guy.
Christopher CantwellGUEST
34:51
And then Al Ewing in Marvel comics, 1000 did a one page story about Corvac being brought online by the enclave.
Felipe ShimonHOST
9:22
they could have.
Felipe ShimonHOST
9:22
And I was like, you want me to believe Galactus is the biggest, baddest villain in the history of Marvel, and, like, can't even kill one of the Fantastic Four? You want me to believe that Ant-Man defeats Kang and gets out of the quantum realm? Like, I'm tired of these movies having no stakes.
Felipe ShimonHOST
9:36
Um-
AJ NorrisHOST
9:37
[laughs]
LovekickscustomHOST
44:10
They wasn't even thinking about...
LovekickscustomHOST
44:12
Who's the Silver Surfer? Galactus.
LovekickscustomHOST
44:16
Galactus.
LovekickscustomHOST
44:16
They wasn't thinking about Galactus.
808 Kicks ATLHOST
44:18
You can't.
808 Kicks ATLHOST
44:18
Ain't no coming back from Galactus.
808 Kicks ATLHOST
44:21
He got to be an individual movie.
808 Kicks ATLHOST
44:23
He can't be Avengers.
Adam CarnevaleGUEST
57:29
it's like world ending.
Adam CarnevaleGUEST
57:30
So like Galactus?
Jackson BalyHOST
57:31
Like Galactus is coming to eat the planet?
Adam CarnevaleGUEST
57:33
Yeah, something world ending.
Adam CarnevaleGUEST
57:35
Okay.
Jackson BalyHOST
59:49
are they because obviously there's like some kind of big cosmic bad yeah coming to destroy the planet how would you like daredevil and uh punisher to defeat because that's what appeals to me really is like these guys have absolutely no powers but this thunderbolts movie is that these these guys kind of sucked and so the the you know main bad guy was like extremely powerful and that to me is so so much more interesting in like a marvel movie where you go how are these guys who don't have powers who aren't very competent or kind of weak how are they going to take out this bad guy so how would you imagine or is that not even like necessarily part of the picture how daredevil and punisher are going to take down galactus yeah you just want a bit of fun and you don't need
Joel DuscherHOST
60:31
to worry about how galactus is going to die at the Yeah.
Adam CarnevaleGUEST
60:34
Well, I don't really know Galactus's weaknesses very well.
JoeHOST
29:56
So, rulings and errata's.
JoeHOST
29:59
We got one errata to Venom Galactus.
JoeHOST
30:01
Because this figure cannot help himself.
JoeHOST
30:05
And it's a clarifying errata.

6 MINS LATER

JoeHOST
36:02
Okay.
JoeHOST
36:03
And this actually kind of ties into kind of McConnell's question.
JoeHOST
36:11
Venom Galactus has devouring tendrils.
JoeHOST
36:14
At the beginning of your turn and when this style becomes active, which is key.
Jordan BlumGUEST
37:05
I wanted to give Scott really fun, big things to draw.
Jordan BlumGUEST
37:08
And, you know, it's a smaller sequence compared to, you know, the Silver Surfer and Galactus, but it's- it's-
Jimmy GasparroHOST
37:14
[laughs]
Jordan BlumGUEST
37:15
... you know, jumping off a roof and- and gliding on a drone, smashing through a window felt like the right scale, you know? So we're always trying to find those moments to let it pick up in pace, and then slow down for smaller, more intimate stuff, so you really do feel like you're going on the full ride.
AnaHOST
11:14
Tommy Wiseau as the Joker as Visser 3.
AustinHOST
11:17
Because we were saying that what if in Fantastic Four Galactus was played by Tommy Wiseau.
AustinHOST
11:23
You have to choose between the Earth or the baby.
AnaHOST
11:30
Give me the Hank.
speaker_0HOST
46:30
When Pants ruled, which was adapted in the comics, Squishy hugger of worlds.
speaker_0HOST
46:38
Zim and Dib team up to stop Squishy, this universe's version of Galactus that hugs worlds to death.
speaker_0HOST
46:45
Then we get to the movie.
speaker_0HOST
46:46
So this is like an entire section on the series.
