Galactus

It's like a '70s go-go dancer with kabuki.

Number nine is The Last Galactus Story by John Byrne and Terry Austin.

This one was partially published in Marvel Epic Illustrated Magazine where thousands of years after all life on Earth has been wiped out, Galactus came back to feed and was brought into conflict with a rogue Watcher who proclaimed, "Has it been so long you no longer recall the face of the ones who created you?" After this cliffhanger ending to the first chapter, Epic Illustrated ceased publication.

In February of 1986, and the story was never finished.

According to a Wizard in- interview with John Byrne in 1993, "I've always said I'd only feel comfortable finishing the story if I was doing Fantastic Four because so much of it is integral in part of the Fantastic Four mythos." But Byrne had no issue with spoiling the plot points, explaining that in culmination of the fight with The Watcher lasting millions of years, Galactus consumes all the energy around him and destroys The Watcher with it.

Still filled with energy, Galactus' last act is to crack open his own helmet and release the energy inside him, creating a big bang that births the next universe.

There was a lot going on in this story that it would've changed Marvel tenfold.

I'm kind of glad it didn't get finished.

they could have.

And I was like, you want me to believe Galactus is the biggest, baddest villain in the history of Marvel, and, like, can't even kill one of the Fantastic Four? You want me to believe that Ant-Man defeats Kang and gets out of the quantum realm? Like, I'm tired of these movies having no stakes.

They wasn't even thinking about...

Who's the Silver Surfer? Galactus.

Galactus.

They wasn't thinking about Galactus.

You can't.

Ain't no coming back from Galactus.

He got to be an individual movie.

He can't be Avengers.

it's like world ending.

So like Galactus?

Like Galactus is coming to eat the planet?

Yeah, something world ending.

Okay.

are they because obviously there's like some kind of big cosmic bad yeah coming to destroy the planet how would you like daredevil and uh punisher to defeat because that's what appeals to me really is like these guys have absolutely no powers but this thunderbolts movie is that these these guys kind of sucked and so the the you know main bad guy was like extremely powerful and that to me is so so much more interesting in like a marvel movie where you go how are these guys who don't have powers who aren't very competent or kind of weak how are they going to take out this bad guy so how would you imagine or is that not even like necessarily part of the picture how daredevil and punisher are going to take down galactus yeah you just want a bit of fun and you don't need

to worry about how galactus is going to die at the Yeah.

Well, I don't really know Galactus's weaknesses very well.

So, rulings and errata's.

We got one errata to Venom Galactus.

Because this figure cannot help himself.

And it's a clarifying errata.

Okay.

And this actually kind of ties into kind of McConnell's question.

Venom Galactus has devouring tendrils.

At the beginning of your turn and when this style becomes active, which is key.

I wanted to give Scott really fun, big things to draw.

And, you know, it's a smaller sequence compared to, you know, the Silver Surfer and Galactus, but it's- it's-

... you know, jumping off a roof and- and gliding on a drone, smashing through a window felt like the right scale, you know? So we're always trying to find those moments to let it pick up in pace, and then slow down for smaller, more intimate stuff, so you really do feel like you're going on the full ride.

When Pants ruled, which was adapted in the comics, Squishy hugger of worlds.

Zim and Dib team up to stop Squishy, this universe's version of Galactus that hugs worlds to death.

Then we get to the movie.
