Gaia BH1

Most of them are called stellar mass black holes because, well, they're born when a massive star, at least eight times heavier than our sun, collapses and becomes a tiny but very dense black hole.

This is Gaia BH1, and it's the closest black hole to us, just 1,560 light-years away.

This black hole is almost 10 times as massive as our Sun, but it's small.

Its event horizon is only 59 kilometers wide.
