Do you think we can use muscle fat signature to create a risk profile for the risk of knee replacement, which would allow for an opportunity for early non-surgical intervention?
11:47
That's such an exciting question.
11:49
And as we think about it, it could be our next project, so, so thanks for that idea.
11:54
So whether muscle fat infiltration precedes cartilage degeneration, that's still actively being studied.
12:00
But if that relationship does hold, it opens a window for earlier intervention, which would be so exciting and so impactful for the patients. For the second question, could a muscle fat signature become part of a risk profile for knee replacement? Yes, potentially, but we would need prospective validation.
12:17
There's a lot of studies that would need to be done, um, standardization, and evidence that it's modifiable and clinically meaningful before it's ready for routine use.
12:27
What I can say is that we're already building this type of framework in our lab.

Do you think there's a role for AI to do the segmentation of, uh, muscle and fat?
