James ShillinglawHOST
0:02
Hi, I'm James Shillinglaw for Insider Travel Report, and I'm here with Jeremy Brady, who's the Director of Sales for USA and Latin America for G Adventures.
James ShillinglawHOST
0:12
And we're here to talk about a pretty big issue, is travel really making a difference? And, uh, G Adventures says it's time to prove it.
James ShillinglawHOST
0:21
And so we're gonna talk to, to, to Jeremy about this, about, uh, ex- exploring such concepts as community tourism.
James ShillinglawHOST
0:29
Uh, I love you guys are always creating new names.
Jeremy BradyGUEST
0:34
[laughs]
James ShillinglawHOST
0:34
And Project 300.
James ShillinglawHOST
0:35
Uh, that's the G Adventures goal to uplift 300 communities through tourism by 2030.
James ShillinglawHOST
0:41
Uh, and you're also expanding your luxury offerings with, uh, G- uh, National Geographic.
Dan ChristianHOST
44:53
Well, so it's interesting.
Dan ChristianHOST
44:54
I just did a spotlight episode with G Adventures.
Dan ChristianHOST
44:56
Obviously, G Adventures is a big partner of yours.
Dan ChristianHOST
44:58
And obviously, I used to work at G.
Dan ChristianHOST
45:00
And they've just entered sports tourism with their Away Games product.
Dan ChristianHOST
47:55
When I mentioned that you're across B2B and B2C, it is really important because one of the things you work closely with us with is understanding the questions.
Dan ChristianHOST
48:02
Obviously, I griped a little bit about the hotel example, but these are the things you would tell us that you're hearing from customers.
Dan ChristianHOST
48:08
So you have your ear to the ground on B2C, and it's one of the things I'd always encourage new team members joining the Travel Corporation or G Adventures.
Tricia MumbyGUEST
39:07
I think the travel industry does a really good job.
Tricia MumbyGUEST
39:09
Like if you land on Viking Cruises, if you land on G Adventures, if you land on Intrepid, they're always face forward.
Tricia MumbyGUEST
39:16
You immediately know, oh, I don't want to go on a trip with that lady.
Greg BoydHOST
39:18
Right.
Travis PittmanGUEST
5:18
We've stayed very focused on the multi-day side.
Dan ChristianHOST
5:21
Well, and the one thing for our listeners, too, when I mentioned the background between Travis and I not only being great friends and colleagues, but when you look at that 16 year history and where I was at the time, I was at G Adventures when Travis and the team were launching.
Dan ChristianHOST
5:33
And at that time, companies like G Adventures, Intrepid, those kind of soft adventure travel companies were really starting to come into their own.
Dan ChristianHOST
5:41
But they were companies that were doing 50, 100 million.
Dan ChristianHOST
5:43
Now they're billion dollar companies.
Dan ChristianHOST
5:45
And they're surrounded by other large multi-day tour companies as well, because after working with Travis and the team very closely at G Adventures, we spent the next decade working closely together while I was at the Travel Corporation working across brands like Trafalgar, Insight, Contiki, all brands that have been a core part of the TourRadar platform.
Dan ChristianHOST
6:03
But TourRadar has more than 50,000 adventures with 2,500 operators.
Dan ChristianHOST
6:07
So that gives you a scale.
Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
4:46
That was totally what I wanted.
Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
4:48
Um, in 2016, I moved to the city with my then boyfriend, now husband, and, uh, got a job at, uh, got my dream job really working at an adventure travel company called Green, uh, G Adventures, and, uh, met amazing friends there, lifelong friends there.
Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
5:05
We're still friends.
Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
5:06
And, uh, it was, uh, it, it was just everything kinda came together.
Dan ChristianHOST
9:20
And I should note to all of our listeners that Max and the team are Toronto-based, but it's a global business.
Dan ChristianHOST
9:25
And what's interesting when Max mentioned that, because there was my time at G Adventures.
Dan ChristianHOST
9:28
I know G Adventures is one of the big clients at Sherpa, and then we obviously brought it on at the Travel Corporation, expanded it across all of our brands.
Dan ChristianHOST
9:36
So I've known Max for many years.
Dan ChristianHOST
9:38
I was very optimistic about his technology because nothing like that existed, the idea of visas, and it's something we're gonna talk about in our report, but the complexity that is involved in traveling and taking the hassle out of the complexity of, uh, as, as more and more countries are introducing e-visas and working with a company like Sherpa.

45 MINS LATER

Sam SewardGUEST
54:49
Pe- people are drawn to a culture that is keeping high standards and doing a great job.
Sam SewardGUEST
54:54
So that was, yeah, that was very clear.
Dan ChristianHOST
54:56
The connection between a company like G Adventures that has the expedition ship that kind of decided to also add in expedition cruising, and just to see how popular this segment of travel has become.
