Future of mathematics

We're not as good as the best chess engines, but we still love chess.

Is that the future of mathematics? Is that it's a beautiful game and that we're second rate, but we still enjoy it? It could be, but that has a lot of implications.

If that's all math is, then why would anyone pay us to do it? When all the work is being done by AI, there's no need to put the money into human mathematicians doing that kind of work.

And that seems to be very possible trajectory unless we stop it.
