Fusarium

If you open your front door right now and go outside, you're gonna be inundated with a combination of ascospores and basidiospores and Cladosporium, and even Aspergillus penicillium is just naturally fluttering in the air.

I mean, heck, I even find, honestly, in outdoor air samples we take to do some comparative analysis to the indoors, um, we find Chaetomium and Stachybotrys and Fusarium.

It's out there.

It really is.

That's true.

Something like Phytophthora, Fusarium that are more soil borne.

If you're just killing the top of it, it's not necessarily.

Now, viruses, that's a different story.

And actually, these studies don't, are not purely restricted to Mucorales.

They look at Aspergillus, Mucorales, Fusarium, and Scedosporium, um, diagnosis.

But they do detect, uh, that you can find Mucorales in blood up to three weeks before clinical symptoms, and that Mucorales, um, w- the test, um, with whole genome sequencing was highly sensitive on, on plasma.

So these are small studies, retrospective case control studies, so they still require, um, validation.

So a number of different

cesarean species are rather common, but Anybody will tell you that dying soybean plants or any dying plant, you could probably pick up a lot of Fusarium.

And then there's another organism that Allison refers to as PAM because it's got kind of a long name.

And so that's one that we're not really as familiar with, but there are reports in other countries across the world that have associated that particular organism with this crown rot kind of disease.

The aspergillus toxins were present.

A bit more sporadic, Fusarium.

I know these names aren't going to mean much, but this was very highly concentrated in these wheat-based seitan products.

And 29 out of 32 products showed contamination with at least one mycotoxin.

Yeah.

And I know we also had the Fusarium with, I think it's the Xeroline.

I can't say that word right, but it's the Xeroline mycotoxin that does affect the endocrine system and the menstrual and the genetic components, I think, of the baby and stuff, which is kind of what happened to us.

Yeah.

They focused on the sorts of organisms commonly found in spaceflight environments and those common on human skin.

Besides Aspergillus niger, these included Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Deinococcus radioduranus and several species of Fusarium.

Based on previous studies, the authors noted the maximum amount of heat and ultraviolet radiation each organism can withstand.

Then the organisms were tested in simulations of three regions near the lunar South Pole, Nobile Rim, Connecting Ridge and De Gelaci Rim.

Certainly don't want to breathe out, by the way.

But that white powder is usually Fusarium mold, and that's one of the nastiest stealth molds.

It's not like Aspergillus, which is a deadly aflatoxin mold, but the Fusarium is bad.

So that, like I said, I'm glad you asked that question because if people are buying a Ranchi A, that has gotten moldy, they're shooting themselves in the foot.

It takes a whole lot to overcompensate that or overdo it.

And that is exactly what's happened to bananas.

So there is a fungus called Fusarium oxysporum that has been attacking basically the vascular tissue of plants, um, uh, of the Cavendish banana variety.

And it is destroying, you know, millions of hectares, basically, of banana plants around the world.

What is more shocking, though, is that we have been here before, and the Cavendish banana is the second of probably what will be many, um, monocultures of bananas, and it is the, um, successor to a banana that was bred for exactly the same reason in the 1700s called the Gros Michel.

And the Gros Michel was discovered, in very strong air quotes, uh, by the French naturalist Nicholas Baudin, and basically grown, cloned, distributed around the world for exactly the same reasons.

But it was completely wiped out by Fusarium oxysporum.

So Cavendish was basically bred to replace the Gros Michel, and the Gros Michel was taken out by exactly the same problem that the Cavendish is now being taken out by.

So you would think that now that we know that this is happening for the second time, th- we wouldn't be trying to do this again.
