I think Julie Stein really deserves to be mentioned.

I mean, obviously he's revered because he's Gypsy and Funny Girl and all this other great stuff, but a lot of times he's not mentioned in the same sentences like sort of the pantheon of people from the generation before him, like George Gershwin or Cole Porter or Harold Arlen or Richard Rodgers.

And I think he should be.

I think he's right there.

Don't Rain On My Parade.

They wrote it for a musical called Funny Girl starring Barbara Streisand.

Oh.

The character, Fanny Brice, is singing it as an anthem for self-confidence, "Nothing will get in the way of my dreams." [laughs]

yet?It is satiating me.

I, I really wish, I w- I hope we have some of the historical moments [laughs] 'cause so far it's been a bit of like a, "Well, you know, it kind of does what it says on the tin." [laughs]

[laughs] No, Funny Girl the Musical is where it's from.

I thought that was good.

Mm-hmm.

Um, and it was written by composer Jule Styne and lyricist Bob Merrill, and it was first performed and made famous by none other than Barbra Streisand in the 1964 musical Funny Girl.

Funny Girl.

Funny.

That's funny.

It is.

She's a funny girl.

No, she was like, this is my plug to be on Broadway.

Yeah, they're like, oh, wow, I was really hoping for Don't Forget, but I guess I like Funny Girl.

But I guess Don't Rain on My Parade is a good

track.

She was one of the first major stars to use that.

You might recognize the name Fanny Brice from the play Funny Girl.

That was about her life.

Barbra Streisand played her.

They're like an empty vessel that was special in their movies because they were filled with one actor's special performance, right?

I think that is the case for like Babs and Funny Girl, too.

Like no one can fill that void.

Exactly.

And I think he's, he's doing it to be nice, but he's also kind of doing it because he says kind of, I am, you know, struggling with rent.

So this kind of helps me out if I have somebody to split rent with, because I was looking for a roommate and, uh so they show up and they're at nyota and elliot's like where do you have a full band here and rachel's like oh i insisted that as part of funny girl i need to have a full band available to me at all times so i can practice the repertoire and i'm like rachel you're a diva bitch like what do you like i'm sorry but i'm not liking your attitude at all girl last episode this episode We got to switch it up.

We got to we got to find a better way to be nicer.

And so, of course, they're there.

She also, she, she's an actress, but she also does a performance of a lifetime.

If you ask me, she does an older rendition to a funny girl.

You're familiar with that.

Love Barbra Streisand? Oh, yeah.

I love Funny Girl, and I have a deep love for the musical.

I've seen it on Broadway multiple times.
