So what were you-- what kinds of things were you looking into when you were in Brazil, and how did you make the move to Swaziland?

So, um, my, uh, my post, my last post in Brazil was working at Fundação Getulio Vargas, which is the, at the economics department.

Um, and there we had access to administrative data on social welfare programs in Brazil, and that's mostly what I worked with.

So, uh, looking at the effects of the social welfare programs on different health outcomes, uh, specifically on maternal and child health outcomes.

E eu vou es-- contar como é que a gente chegou nessa história.

O Marco Antônio Faganello, que é um cientista político do CPESP Data da Fundação Getúlio Vargas de São Paulo, fez uma análise muito interessante sobre o perfil dos votos, a diferença de votos que o Lula teve por município Da eleição de 2026, em comparação ao primeiro turno da eleição de 2022.

E ele chegou numa conclusão de que a maior perda de votos do Lula tinha sido entre os municípios com menos de 100 mil habitantes.

A maior perda proporcional.

As linhas se cruzam, o candidato do PT passa a ter mais votos nos municípios não ligados ao agro, nos pequenos municípios não ligados ao agro, e cai a votação pela primeira vez do Lula e do próprio Lula, no caso, em 2006.

E aí tem uma explicação.

Conversando com a Daniela Campelo, que é uma cientista política brasileira, professora da Fundação Getúlio Vargas no Rio de Janeiro, eee que Tá dando aula em Columbia, na Universidade de Columbia, em Nova York, e conversando também com o César Zucco, que também é um cientista político brasileiro, que exatamente com a mesma carreira.

Os dois me contaram a mesma história, não ao mesmo tempo.

That geographic spread is deliberate because the questions matter in San Paolo.

The important question becomes, does it confirm something voters already believe? So a scandal for me becomes politically powerful when it reinforces a pre-existing story.

That's Felipe Nunes, pollster and CEO of Quest and professor at FGV in Sao Paulo.

He spoke with my colleague Luiz Salemi about how the Brazilian vote has changed, creating new challenges for both Lula and Bolsonaro.

What we're seeing now is a little bit of a negligence, as if Brazilians are thinking that, you know, they tried everything, they tried different groups, they tried different presidents, but their lives hasn't changed significantly.

And then we do have the fourth line of research that is crisis management that is in partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

And then the last, but not least, but fifth one is the Artificial Intelligence and Military Systems, which was the first one of this kind in Brazil, with the partnership of FGV from the soldier to the varmint.

And that was a kind of game changer in terms of the formation of our officers, so that they can think out of the box and... look different when we see things that they were not directly prepared to see.

So this is the issue regarding the training and preparation of officers.

And he mentors other CEOs and founders as well.

I started to understand how to write a book.

And then one of the experiments that I wanted to do was to teach.

And I went back to my alma mater, Fundação Getúlio Vargas, FGV, as you mentioned.

And there, in talking with professors there and people that I had some relationship from the past, I mentioned the book.
