Last time we heard new norm, we weren't too pleased about it, were we? Steep diesel prices, which exceed two euro a liter at some filling stations, are the new norm, the Taoiseach has warned.

His comments come as Fuel for Ireland, which represents fuel firms, confirmed diesel has risen above two euro in some forecourts, uh, around Donegal, in fact, as well.

Uh, backbench TDs have called on the government to do as much as possible to shelter people from the costs, with one saying the increase can become like another mortgage each month, especially for those in rural Ireland who have to drive long distances for work.

But one minister told the Irish Daily Mail yesterday that their cabinet colleagues are spending as if it's twenty oh seven, adding this is a crash-- uh, that a crash is inevitable at this point, which I actually would agree, and I'm kinda half prepping myself, uh, for that.
