So I'm surprised there's not more of them.

And of course, we have as a country a great tradition at making sketch comedy from French and Saunders, Fry and Laurie, Mitchell and Webb, etc.

This, I would say, the consistency is there, but also I think it's very, very well observed in the setup.

So have you ever scrolled on your phone and have seen endless podcasts of celebrities interviewing other celebrities where they don't really say anything and they have aha moments and revelations which don't really feel profound, but they make it seem like it's really profound? Yes.

So I don't know that it fully got all the way there for me, Frankie, but I thought this was fun.

I really enjoyed this and I must admit that like a half hour between the show ending and starting this I spent the entire time trying to work out what this reminded me of and I didn't manage to but it feels very like older British comedy like The Two Ronnies or like Bit Fry and Laurie or even Monty Python-esque and I can't I feel like there's a sketch that I'm not getting but so I'd love if someone can think of something specific and it also felt very like this may be too much of a deep cut but like one of the first scenes in Romeo and Juliet there are two members of the houses talking to each other and it's like do you bite your tongue at me sir I bite my tongue but not at you sir I bite my tongue I sorry bite my thumb but not at you sir bite my thumb sir and I wondered if it's playing off that but that might just have been me being too much of a nerdy nerd brain and so I did enjoy this and I thought this is where James shone the most tonight just his full commitment to silliness was excellent and I do wish this had been the last of the night though
Jon SchneiderHOST

I could see that.
Jon SchneiderHOST
65:52
Yeah, we'll talk about that next sketch in just a moment.
Liam GilroyGUEST
98:58
Um, it's not like bust a gut funny, but it's, it's fun.
Joab GilroyHOST
99:03
That's, uh, Fry and Laurie, right?
Liam GilroyGUEST
99:05
And, uh, [clears throat] it's not anime.
Joab GilroyHOST
99:07
Yeah.
Liam GilroyGUEST
99:09
That's right.
Liam GilroyGUEST
99:09
It's Fry and Laurie.
Liam GilroyGUEST
99:12
Um-
Joab GilroyHOST
99:13
Yeah
Seth ThévozHOST
3:13
Hmm.
Sebastian SalekGUEST

Um, but the other part of it, and you kind of touched on it there, you think of, um, Fry and Laurie when they were originally asked to do Jeeves and Wooster, they were a little bit hesitant, and they thought, "What if we do it badly?" And then they thought, "No, hang on.
Sebastian SalekGUEST
3:24
If we don't do it, someone else will, and then we'll really have lost out." And that's the other thing I think about because it's Ofcom regulated, and you have to have a left-wing voice there, and I kind of back myself to do a decent job, and if it's not me, it might be someone else, and they might not be as good.
Sebastian SalekGUEST
3:36
So there's a sweet level of arrogance to it as well.
Seth ThévozHOST
3:39
So GB News might be a bad remake of Fry and Laurie-
Sebastian SalekGUEST
3:42
Ooh [laughing] perhaps
Seth ThévozHOST
3:43
... called Jeeves and Wooster.
FinneyHOST
4:22
In the UK, we're spoiled by double acts as well.
FinneyHOST
4:24
Fry and Laurie, French and Saunders.
FinneyHOST
4:27
Reeves and Mortimer, Smith and Jones, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
FinneyHOST
4:32
All great double acts.
Sarah HumphreyGUEST

And it might, it might have been on TV as well, you know, with the, with the-
Ian CockburnHOST
2:17
Yeah, with Fry and Laurie.
Sarah HumphreyGUEST
2:18
Yeah, that one.
Sarah HumphreyGUEST

So anyway, I read a couple then and I did enjoy them, but then I've had a very, very long break since reading those, until reading The Adventures of Sally.
