Frontier Psychiatrist

Yeah

... you had Avalanches, Frontier Psychiatrist.

Ooh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

So that gives you a, kind of a, a basis to start from when the, uh, when you're talking about The Avalanches.

If you've heard any song of theirs though, it's probably "Frontier Psychiatrist." It's the one that was kind of, I suppose, the biggest.

Uh, it, it got the highest in the Hottest 100, uh, the year that it came out.

It ca- It's come up a couple of times in the, you know, the all-time lists.

100%.

That's me being ready to go.

[laughs] So yeah, this is "Frontier Psychiatrist." [upbeat music]

It's-- It keeps you guessing the whole way through.

It's just a great classic album.

And this sparks the same kind of like good vibrations, you know, good, you know, I just had a lot of fun listening to it and very happy to see just this idea of covering plunder phonics music and reinterpreting it, taking, uh, a lot of the same structure of the original songs but like going in new directions like a lot of the avalanches i think there's also a generational thing too in that you know the avalanches are older and like the stuff that you know there's always that sort of nostalgia sampling stuff from your childhood early adulthood you listen to it now and it sounds you know anachronistic because it's referencing you know like movies from the 50s and stuff that's not really in heavy rotation and this You know, why don't we go ahead and play another sample from this interpretation of Frontier Psychiatrist.

Frontier Psychiatrist.

Frontiers! Frontiers! Frontiers! Frontiers! Frontiers! Frontiers!

As you can tell, they love The Simpsons and King of the Hill and more power to them because, in fact, this whole album got started because people liked Nickster's remix or recreation of Frontier Psychiatrist with newer samples on it and saying they'd love to hear something like this, but with the entire album.

And he's like, OK, yeah, no, good idea.

So he just got a bunch of artists and they put it together.

I think that's true.

Oh, my God.

Was that the Frontier Psychiatrist song?

That's such a good song.

I love that song.
