Friends of Science in Medicine

The divide is being caused by the situation.

Serge Ben-Hain has surrounded himself with true believers, but the stuff he talks about is so out there that someone leaks tapes of his presentation to a group of sceptics called Friends of Science in Medicine.

And so the tapes of Serge talking wind up with the eminent medical figure and one-time head of immunology at Yale University in the US, Professor John Dwyer.

We actually could see for ourselves that a large crowd, mainly women, are listening to this guy.

Awarded at a dinner in Melbourne on Saturday night, the bent spoon came with a trophy made from a spoon that had been psychically bent and mounted on a plinth of wood, from Noah's Ark.

Also honoured at the dinner, which caps the group's national convention, was the lobby group Friends of Science and Medicine, which took out the more desirable category, the 2012 Skeptic of the Year Award.

The group was recognised for challenging those Australian universities running courses in areas the Australian sceptics consider quote, unproven and overhyped, end quote, medical treatments.

This includes areas such as chiropractic, naturopathy, acupuncture and reflexology.
