Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood

Right, right, right.

All right, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, 1988.

Did they take a break? Oh, they took 1987 off.

Look at that.

[laughs]

They finally took a year off.

All right, and now Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, and we do get the new blood.

Jason performer, for the first time, Kane Hodder.

Uh, the first one is actually in two different movies.

It's in, uh, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.

Mm-hmm.

And it's also in Jason X. Jason X is the version that they filmed, which is not the one that came out in The New Blood.

It was s- I think they get, let him get the, it's the sleeping bag kill.

Yeah, I think that he sort of-

I have hot man recommendations.

Uh, so I'm gonna recommend one that I have a love/hate for after I was just talking about how I'm rewatching the "Friday the 13ths." And I had to text these two when I watched this movie 'cause I really hadn't watched this or given it the, the attention it needed to begin with, but "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood." Uh, this movie, for whatever reason, it just, I love the Savini aspect, right? This is his design, right? This is his Jason.

So I love that.

I love the, um, Kane Hodder be- Kane Hodder running through fucking every wall or any structure he can in this movie is fucking hilarious.

Yeah, so my recommendation is a little bit of a double-edged sword for me.

It's got a love-hate thing going on, and it's very reminiscent of this movie as far as lacking the story, uh, that, uh, it could've made or broke this movie.

Uh, my recommendation is "Friday the 13th Part VII: A New Blood." Uh, uh, "The New Blood." And the reason I'm choosing this one is 'cause, uh, Savini, Tom Savini's effects with Jason in this are probably my most favorite version of Jason.

Um, and I do like, as I pointed out with these two, I, I have such a love-hate about this, uh, this movie that I text these two in our thread and said afterwards, I'm like, I'm like, "I don't know how to feel about this movie 'cause it's kinda all over the place, the story, and you've got telekinesis happening, and then you got the Kool-Aid man Jason who, uh, Kane Hodder, he's just breaking through every-"

Uh, we had Child's Play that year.

You had the Blob remake, Pumpkinhead, like, uh, lots of sequels, [laughs] which means lots of movies with colons in the title, like Hellbound, colon, Hellraiser II, Friday the 13th, colon, The New Blood.

I'm not...

That, you might wanna go to the doctor if that was the case.

So if you're interested, you can listen to that.

This one is some people's favorite, other than the first, I think, which is, of course, Part 7, The New Blood, which is a 1988 American supernatural slasher film

directed by John Carl Buechler.

I've never heard of this man.

I wonder how many years the actual timeline is, because these movies are coming out every seven months, not every seven years, you know what I mean? And you know, there's huge time jumps.

um time jump here and in like the last movie but parts like two three and four are all happening within the like and then like 72 hours now it's like 100 years from now so that's right so i mean now now we're in the age of time jumps but by the end of part four or whatever it's really monday the 16th or whatever the fuck i don't know

Well, in any case, The New Blood was intended to have a higher standard of quality than the previous installments, with high-profile directors being at least considered to helm the project.

After several failed concepts, screenwriter Daryl Haney suggested an idea akin to Jason vs. Carrie, in which Jason would battle a teenage girl with psychokinetic abilities.

I'm such a huge fan of.

And the one that I have been really championing over the last year is The New Blood.

So those are two that I really, really love.

But yeah, I think the final chapter is probably one of the best slasher films ever made.

Which I don't get.

Like, it's... it's like if you like these movies i don't get like what why this one would be considerably worse like there's a lot of really dumb things in it that don't make sense but yeah who cares like it's so fun and obviously it's called jason takes manhattan it was supposed to take place largely in new york but they had their budget slashed so really only the end takes place in new york and even then it was mostly filmed in vancouver so there's only like one There was one scene where he's in Times Square.

That was the only thing that was New York and them seeing the Statue of Liberty.

Most of the movie takes place on a boat that's going there.

But for some reason, it's one of those things where it's like, yeah, kicking a dog would just make him that much worse.

I think that at some point in time, now that we've had a good long while without a Friday the 13th movie...

A good way to bring the series back up, and I'm saying this now so nobody steal my idea, to make a movie that focuses on a support group of all the final girls from all the other movies.

Yeah.
