I think they had better tools for that game, and I'm interested to see whether how they kind of develop and evolve over the season to use the kind of tools that they have in better ways.

So to stop speaking in sort of vague analogies and speak quite specifically, I thought it was quite interesting that Cascarino didn't s- start this game, Freya Godfrey did.

I think Cascarino, without watching the game but having seen the highlights-

So obviously Pattinson started at left back, and then Godfrey started as well.

But Pattinson was a forced change because Fernandes was not fit enough to start, and Carruthers was injured.

So my conspiracy theory is Freya Godfrey started because of that.

Oh.

I think they just have so many attacking players that it's really difficult for Adair Master to pick his team.

I know Freya Godfrey probably didn't have her best game taken off for Cascarino in the first half, but They do have such quality there and they have such depth.

So I don't think it will be difficult for them to score goals this season.

But yeah, I think West Ham were really, really solid.

Mm-hmm.

But, like, what does this mean, do you think, for, like, players like Freya Godfrey? 'Cause ultimately Freya was on the bench last week.

If you look at the whole WSL, they loan out the youngsters because there's just, it's just, there's so much competition.

And I hope to see more of them, like Freya Godfrey, who will hopefully get her shot and be a starting 11 player again.

But it's, it's just such a competitive league, you, you won't...

The homegrown mindset is we should have a path for English talents to get chances and get better as such.

You know, Freya Godfrey was one of their best players last season.

She was only on the bench for this one, did come on.

I think there may have been concerns injury-wise over pre-season.

And then they've sort of got this tier of younger players who they would hope to explode, I guess.

So Lucia Corrales, Freya Godfrey, players that they kind of hope to combo into a team that can like really do something now, but like also has a nod to the future.

Yeah.

The problem I kind of feel is the focus on marketability, which is like a genuine focus they have.

Or you get situations which, again, it's great that they gave Aslani an extra year, but she's had a catastrophic injury and is never going to play again and like okay they've given her a year because they want to support her and like she would have been out of contract anyway but that's those risks become greater with players who are older and that's the kind of position they're in and I think the other thing LCL have which I really don't necessarily know how you get around this is But the fact is, like, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Barcelona, Manchester United, these are all global brands, unfathomably big brands.

We haven't spoken about United yet, but I'm kind of intrigued as to how, like, United plot along from here because I feel like they've always done pretty well because of the fact players want to play for United, like, regardless of what's going on there.

If LCL, like, when you look at, say, their younger players, like... say Freya Godfrey, if she does get really good and Arsenal, her childhood club, turned around and said, Freya, we want you back.

We made a huge mistake.
