Adam Brandon is, uh, with us now on the show, senior advisor of the Independent Sector, co-founder of the Independent Leadership Council.

He was, uh, former president of FreedomWorks, helped build the Tea Party movement, which is now hard to believe 15, uh, more than that, years ago, [laughs] and, uh, author of the new book, The Exhausted Majority.

Adam, thanks so much for joining us here on Daybreak.

Uh, thanks very much for having me.

And that's our guest today, Anand Mittal.

He and I met, I want to say, 13 years ago, back whenever we were both at FreedomWorks.

It's been a while.

It's been a hot minute, my friend, but how is everything treating you up in our nation's capital?

Yeah, I mean, initially I was sort of, you know, the stupid college kid, whatever, you know, Iraq War, that kind of stuff.

You tend to be very sort of left leaning or Democrat leaning.

And then I ended up kind of becoming more interested in libertarianism and then sort of got an internship at FreedomWorks and sort of was interested in the Tea Party movement, which was really blowing up in 2010, 2011.

And then that around that time also started reading a lot about national defense.

He's got a new book out.

He said he's a former FreedomWorks guy.

He's made it his mission in life to address the annual debt deficit.

We're running between $1 and $2 trillion deficits.

This is a very, very important time to take advantage of what we've already been, all the allegations we've made for decades that has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt over these last 10 years is absolutely fantastic.

He also is a senior advisor at the Independent Center, co-founder of the Independent Leadership Council, former president of FreedomWorks.

In fact, he was affiliated with the Tea Party in a leadership role, and he believes 40% of Americans need a new home.

Adam Brandon, how are you? I am great, but I got to tell you, I listened to the Chicago traffic waiting to get on the show, and I don't know why, guys, we waste your time even talking about it.

We didn't initially hire that campaign director, we actually talked to grassroots leaders on the left and right, because we knew that the democracy movement needed to bring people together across divides.

So we spoke to MoveOn and we spoke to FreedomWorks, who it's amazing to think at the time was actually quite skeptical of the incoming president in 2017.

And we said, will you be our grassroots partners if we're kind of the nerdy legal people? And they both said yes.

And we've partnered over the years many times to move on.

FreedomWorks went through an interesting evolution where they were anti-Trump and they were pro-Trump and they were anti-Trump and then they imploded over that internal conflict.

And we've always wanted to go back.
