Freddo

I mean, it's amazing how things change.

I remember you could buy a Freddo for 3p.

And now, I don't know what they are, 50p a pound for one Freddo.

Yeah, do you understand inflation? Do you understand that money changes and that we don't live in 1973 anymore? I

loved

a Freddo.

I just used to love a Freddo, I have to say.

And, you know, got my anti-gene, got me a Freddo Easter egg.

They're only 15 grams.

So that's significantly more than a cheeky Freddo frog, isn't it? So the ingredients are milk solids, cocoa butter, organically grown carob powder at 25%, natural vanilla extract emulsifier.

Now, certainly looking at the ingredient list that is relatively unprocessed, Is it healthier than flavored chocolates? Yes.

So if you buy Marvelous Creations, this is definitely technically healthier.

So most people won't buy an individual Frodo frog.

They'll buy the packet, then the packets at home and then you're eating them, which I think the banjos you have to buy individually.

So that's the only benefit I would see with kids is that they're possibly easier to buy as an individual treat than a bag of Freddo's.

So yeah, but I think, yeah, it's an interesting question and they're not significantly better.

So an air race was conceived as the way to do that.

And a well-known philanthropist and businessman in Melbourne, Sir Macpherson Robertson, who was famous for chocolates, you know, Cherry Ripes and Freddo Frogs, all that sort of stuff, sponsored the race and put up the prize money, you know, 15,000 pounds, which was a staggering amount of money at that time.

By comparison, your average wage, basic wage was about four and a half pounds in those days.

You could buy a house for about seven, 800 pounds, you know, to put up that sort of money was amazing.

Once inflation is taken into account, what is that money actually worth? An easy way to understand this is to think about what one pound buys.

Back in 2007, one pound would buy six Cadbury Freddo bars.

Love those.

Today, the same one pound would buy only around two and a half bars.

Inflation.

It's an interesting one because in the Loud Investing Challenge, we used Freddo Frogs, the little chocolate bars-
