How big was it for Muncy to deliver in that situation for you guys?

Oh, it's huge.

We needed that hit.

Um, you know, we've been, we've been grinding at the plate for about 10 days, needing that big hit, and Munce got it going, uh, and we were able to score a coup- one more run after that, and, and our bullpen shut it down.

How big was it for Ohtani to get a h- get on for you, and how big was it for Tucker to draw that walk ahead of Muncy?

Oh, that's huge.

There's the, there's the little things that help win games.

Also, Shohei stealing the base.

Um, so were you concerned that, uh, that this might be more serious? Where is it at with your right hand right now?

No, I wasn't concerned.

I obviously didn't come out of that at bat because I knew it hit my bat as well.

So it hit bat then hand and pinched my hand onto the bat.

So, um, next pitch I swung, and I, I could swing, and, you know, I swung again.

But, um, as the adrenaline wore off, the pain got a little bit more.

I mean, I get-- feels like I got hit by a ball, but x-rays were negative, so I feel all right.

Yeah, it's been a long couple of weeks on the East Coast, but we've been playing good baseball.

I can't lie.

you know about the difference between being experienced and knowing how to win how much of this group knowing how to win will lend itself

Yeah, it's big.

I mean, there's so many different scenarios, situations that have come up throughout the course of the year.

I think this whole clubhouse has seen every single situation, been through every single situation, have failed at times, have succeeded.

So you know how to handle all those variables that come.

So nothing gets too big.

We're 2-5 in our last seven games, and you walk in here and you don't even know it.

Where did that routine come from?

Uh, you know, it just kind of evolved over time.

As you get older, you get to hit a little later before the game.

And just kind of how it all kind of planned out.

I hit three times a day.

The last time is usually about 12 minutes before the game.

I liked it.

So when you say 12 minutes, 12 minutes right on the dot, not 12 minutes and one second.

Where does that come from to really appreciate, still at this stage of your career, 10 years being an All-Star, to love it and treat it the way you did your first year?

Yeah, I mean, I always say maybe it's just kind of how we came up.

17 years ago, coming up in the big leagues is a little different than coming up now.

I don't know.

When you get voted in by either your peers, the fans, the league, whoever votes you in, it's truly an honor.

And you never know when it could be your first, it could be your last.

Is there any players that Charlie has latched on to that he wants to meet with the National League All-Stars? Have the little boys started to latch on to other players?

Does Freddie Freeman allow himself to appreciate the moments more now than he did even five years ago?

A hundred percent.

That's the thing.

It's as you get older and I've been blessed to play this game.

It was 17 years now in the big leagues.

And as I've gotten older, you start.

appreciating because you know it's going to be coming to the end um it never will freddie stop saying that no i mean you can count it count it on one hand now of the years that i'll that i'm going to play left so yeah it's i'm trying to force myself to stop and take a second and you know take in the little things it's you know like we're here and july 5th and it's an absolutely gorgeous day and You see the green grass and these seats and it's special.

I mean, you know, we had a, you know, the miscommunication of getting over to first there.

I mean, I thought Joey pitched great today.

So, like I said, 12 o'clock games are hard.

But Joey did great today, six innings, and glad we were able to get him a win.

And you're talking about being old and tired?

I'm not old and tired, okay? I'm just saying that's what everybody says about us.

Did you ever face him? Did you kind of have a great familiarity with him?

No, I mean, I faced Kirby in the past, but I didn't face him then.

You know, I gave Kirby a little smile, but then you got to go to work.

Against Kirby with his fastball and splitters, you've got to look up so you don't swing at the splitters down.

So that's what I was trying to do.

When I missed a 3-1 fastball, I just kind of brought it closer and a little bit higher and was able to get a fish to hit.

Before I let you go, you were doing an in-stadium interview just moments before, and this entire stadium, 48,000-plus, stuck around and chanted your name.

How does that make you feel? I told Kirsten it's special.

On a play like that, I mean, what, what are you thinking? Is the no-hitter in the back of your mind?

No, it wasn't.

I was just, I closed my eyes and tried to pick it.

[laughs] Uh, you know, those are, those are kind of do or die ones, and, uh, Max made a great play.

Well, I need him to hit a home run every time then, so we can start hitting home runs together.

But, uh, I mean, I hope everyone realizes what a, just an incredible thing this is to watch as a fan of baseball, to see someone doing what Shohei's doing on the mound, in the batter's box, day in, day out.

On a play like that, I mean, what are you thinking? Is the no-hitter in the back of your mind?

No, it wasn't.

Freddie, was this what Dodger baseball's about offensively? You guys walk, you get base hits, and you can hurt with the home run.

Yeah, I mean, we kind of had it all, even, uh, Miguel's safety squeeze there.

We had kind of everything going tonight.

Uh, you know, I gotta give my- me flying around the bases-

When you sweep in the NLCS.

Yeah.

So, uh, no, just the, our bullpen's been fantastic.

Could you feel how big of a momentum change that was in the fifth inning when Otani got Tatis to ground into that double play?

Yeah, I mean, those are big moments in every game.

It doesn't matter who you're playing.

But obviously in these moments, a lot of crowd, everybody's into it.

That's a big, big spot right there.

And Shohei was able to get a nice pitch right there and get a dope play.

And, you know, we had another one later with Andujar getting a double play there, too.

Yeah, definitely I would say in Houston.

I made a little adjustment with my foot to try and keep my right hip in a little bit more.

Even my misses are a lot better, so we are trending in the right direction, but this game is very hard, so you never know what it could be like tomorrow.
