Frank Langella

He's in a coma.

And so his sort of very nefarious chief of staff, played by Frank Langella, uh, has this brainstorm to have Dave come and be the president temporarily-

Mm-hmm

... and sort of fool the whole country.

He wants to help people.

Yeah.

Well, Frank Langella loses control 'cause his idea was, "I'm gonna put this patsy in place, and then while that's going on, I have time to get the vice president out of the way, and then I can rise to power." But yeah, he's still the president.

He's on camera.

And so part of that was carrying his kids to Williamstown Theater Festival.

And suddenly I found myself in this environment of Richard Dreyfuss and Blyde Danner and Christopher Reeves and Frank Langella, all the big time Eastern actors.

i became enthralled by the process and so i studied around new york and i and also i i was planning to go back to television journalism which i wanted to do rather than just straight print journalism which is what i'd been doing but i couldn't find a job and then i i i remember standing there in connecticut and going The world wants me to be an actor because it's thrust me into this environment of these literally heavyweight Academy Award winning people to spend time with them.

And so, you know, I worked very hard.

Trey Rogers as Carl.

Frank Langella as Mr. Bennett.

Ann Lang as Ann Weber.

However, over the following years, the toy line and cartoon's popularity would wane as the syndicated market would become flooded with slick new shows aimed at boys, including G.I. Joe, Thundercats, and Transformers, to name a few.

In 1987, a live-action Masters of the Universe film starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor was released by Canon Films.

The film was intended to revive interest in the property.

However, it ended up being the last hurrah.

Adults, particularly critics, disliked the film for being juvenile, while younger audiences disliked how it didn't resemble the cartoons.

Over the years, however, the film would find a cult following, largely due to the excellent performance by Frank Langella, who seemed to be having the time of his life as Skeletor.

Hmm.

After Filmation folded in 1989, the rights to the character were acquired by Parafrance Communications, which produced 1990s The New Adventures of He-Man, which brought He-Man, Skeletor, and several other characters into a science fiction environment with a different animation style.
