AlexHOST

Well, what's, I mean-
SteveHOST

I'm just doing it based on vibes
TomerPANELIST

Um, 100%.
TomerPANELIST

Uh, like, there's one person that I always go back to in terms of, like, building a good mana base, and that's Frank Karsten, and he made some articles, because he has, like, a PhD in, in math and stuff.
TomerPANELIST
14:57
Very, like, very math, data, uh, smart person.
TomerPANELIST
15:00
Now, I don't know any of that stuff, but I'll-

Okay.
TomerPANELIST

Even, even if I'm in, even if I'm mono color and I have like, uh, then you're, you're trying to justify 10 colorless lands.
TomerPANELIST
23:03
If I have like a one-drop or a two-drop that requires blue, I need to consult the Frank Karsten math.
PhilPANELIST

VinceHOST

I actually do think this is where, like, uh, our teammate Kristin's version of the deck, um, w- her little, like, Frank Karsten-esque version, [laughs] uh, if you will, is a little bit better into, uh, Amber Amethyst.
BradHOST
37:16
It could be.
AndyHOST

Yeah, I mean-

You can do, like, powerful things with your, you know, the choices that we have versus... like it makes me realize even more why the like very seasoned card players were like this kind of stinks back during fabled right which like again guys like that was our dlc experience was in that meta so like i'm pretty excited for the opportunity to have one that's not in that world right to like feel what that might how that might feel different right

I giggled to myself because I think this time last year, or not this time last year, a month from now, last year, we were talking about the Frank Karsten style of deck building where he had one-ofs and two-ofs across the board, had almost like a half-in list or like a 25-plus individual card list, and won DLC Milwaukee with it.
RyanHOST
54:36
And I think what he found out or figured out and that people didn't figure out to that point was that you can cover up the weaknesses of having four of a bad card by only playing two of it and including different small or slight iterations or slight different iterations of it in your deck list.

We talked about this, I think, offline, maybe on the podcast last year, was just like, i just need to play like fill out my set on a list of 60. i don't i'm not really trying to make any decisions to get there it's just which of these are the least bad options to get there and now it feels like we could you can go the opposite direction where instead of covering up for the weaknesses of trying to get to 60 you know there's so many good options in a couple of these different colors that you can play one-ofs and two-ofs of a bunch of different cards and still have a very viable list that does exactly what you need it to do or what you want it to do because there's so many good options and situational cards that are helpful or important to see at different phases of the game.
