Frank Hurley

You were at the game and in the scheme for us last week in Macho.

And I know Skipper, you were impressed by the likes of Luca Hart and Frank Hurley.

Did you see signs there that can give Skipper encouragement going into this huge, huge game against Clyde?

So a lot of fight in the first half and a fair bit of quality, as you mentioned, from Frank Hurley and Luka Hart in particular.

Obviously, Frank Hurley has played underage for Hart.

Luka Hart is a very good underage player for Skib as well at under-21 level.

It was impressive against Clannachilty as well, I have to say, in the under-21 quarterfinal there.

which admittedly constitutes a very small portion of the overall 17 months that Shackleton and his men were fighting for their lives.

It's also probably the consequence of Frank Hurley having immortalised those memorable moments of Shackleton's journey.

with his photographs the endurance trapped in the ice the james caird being dragged across the ice flows the landing at elephant island and so forth and the fact was that hurley was not here for this component of this journey to document it with his camera But the land crossing of South Georgia Island should not be discounted for its peril, and this moment, when those three brave men slid down an icy slope into the unknown, is, for me, no less harrowing than the night that they were all stranded on that flowberg that reared and crumbled in the mighty swells of the Weddell Sea, and, of course, the epic voyage of the James Caird and the rogue wave that nearly did her in, or the hurricane-force gales off the coast of South Georgia the day before they landed.

All of them, those moments, big and small, and the ones that I haven't mentioned, were harrowing and horrifying in their own way.

Eventually the Chilean government provided Shackleton with a vessel that was called the Yelcho, a steamer.

And they managed to arrive in late August, August the 30th, 1916, four months and six days after the James Caird had set sail for South Georgia.

Frank Hurley, the photographer, and George Marston, the expedition's artist, were the first to sight the Yelcho.
