Frank Gifford

Kurt Gowdy was one of my first favorites nationally.

Then it was Frank Gifford for football.

Then Pat Summerall and John Madden.

Of course, Monday Night Football, we all stayed up to try to watch.

Yelberton Abraham Tittle will be facing the best pass defense in pro football.

He'll be throwing to receivers Del Schaffner, Frank Gifford, and Aaron Thomas.

They'll be hounded by Benny McCray, Dave Witzel, Richie Pettibone, and Roosevelt Taylor, who lead the league in interceptions.

The field, as Jim and I checked before the game, was suitable for cleats, but was getting hard, particularly at the south end here at Wrigley Field, which is never exposed to the sunshine late in the year.

While tight end Joe Walton caught 33, scoring nine touchdowns and totaling 406 yards.
