How do you think about this issue in this new world that we're living in?
16:31
hugely important, especially to the intelligence tradecraft.
16:35
And it always has been.
16:37
It just might become even more complex as we have more and more countries that might be seeking strategic weapons with strategic effects, where they, without even realizing it, they are going to enter deterrence theory and deterrence narratives.
16:54
And so it's very important for us to be ready for A more complex set of permutations relative to is deterrence being maintained or is it about to fail? And so for the intelligence analysts, and I'll just speak personally, I was really fortunate to be surrounded by intelligence analysts who had studied deterrence theory and were smart enough to visually and through good analysis depict indicators of a possible deterrence failure.

We all like to know that deterrence is still intact, but you really would need to know when deterrence is about to fail.
17:34
And that was a very effective way to quickly cut to the chase as to whether we have an emerging dangerous situation.
19:07
I think most people understand what the agency does, but in case we have some new listeners who don't, just explain to us exactly the mission that NGA has and then give us a little bit of insight into kind of like the day-to-day life as director of the NGA.
