Frank Bender

The show needs a face, so they hire a sculptor.

His name is Frank Bender, a forensic artist in Philadelphia who builds faces out of clay.

Frank would later explain his process on Forensic Files.

At the end of the John List story, they turn Frank Bender's clay head slowly in front of the camera, a gray man in heavy glasses, and ask the oldest question in this case: Do you know this man? An estimated 22 million people watch the episode.

Nobody knew exactly what he looked like anymore.

So forensic artist Frank Bender was brought in.

Instead of drawing him, Bender created a three-dimensional bust showing how Liszt might have aged.

Receding hair, older features, and importantly, glasses.
