What's that? 10% of the season gone.
James EasthamGUEST
47:18
So people may just wanna keep an eye on it, but, um, right now that price of +900 on Rennes, yeah, it does look too big to me, because I think they've got a very good manager in Franck Haise, who we talked about before on the show.
James EasthamGUEST
47:31
They've got the makings of a very good team, and they've got decent squad cover.
James EasthamGUEST
47:35
And listen, there's gonna be some incredible ups and downs for so many teams.
Finley CrebolderNARRATOR
1:06
Anyone can try to shoot, but only a select few can put the ball where the goalkeeper has the least chance of reaching it.
Finley CrebolderNARRATOR
1:12
And the 26-year-old attacking leader of Frank Hayes's team has started his season as Ligue 1's reigning top scorer, reminding everyone that last year was not just a one-off.
Finley CrebolderNARRATOR

Inspired against the champions.
Finley CrebolderNARRATOR

However, his exploits in front of goal stand out for another reason.
Andy BrassellHOST
26:31
I mean, they've signed him on loan, but with an obligation to buy for 28 million next year.
Andy BrassellHOST
26:36
Um, this is a team that is gonna be in European competition and, um, is gonna be challenging for Champions League places, and he's got the opportunity to really platform himself under a, a really good coach in Franck Haise, um, who I think will improve him.
Andy BrassellHOST
26:55
And really his next stop is looking towards the England squad, isn't it? Um, playing as well with, um, some players who he might have had a little clash with in, in, in the past.
Andy BrassellHOST
27:05
It w- it w- was quite amusing in his, um, introductory video.
Andy BrassellHOST
31:51
But, um, I was gonna say we're going for PSG versus Rennes, but really we're going for Rennes versus PSG because there's plenty to, um, recommend this anyway because we're talking about the, the, the champions against, and the best team in, in the league by s- some distance.
Andy BrassellHOST
32:09
And what team will they put out? I think that'll be questioned on more than one occasion, uh, this season as it was last season where they almost had separate teams for Liga and, um, the, the, the Champions League through necessity as much as anything else.
Andy BrassellHOST
32:23
And Rennes a, a team who I really rate, as I said, I really rate the coach, Franck Haise, as well.
Andy BrassellHOST
32:29
Um, I, I think, I think they'll be good this season and I think they will get one of the Champions League places.
TomHOST
1:05
And then you can tell me if anyone is really catching your eye, what you think this says about the state of Ligue 1.
TomHOST
1:10
Of course, if we add to that, The managers of Le Mans, Patrick Videran and Stéphane Dumont at Troyes and Francaise actually, who's only been there for 11 Ligue 1 games.
TomHOST
1:44
You've got so many managers that are either new to their team or discovering Ligue 1 for the first time.
TomHOST
1:50
What do you guys think this says about the season and are there any changes you're particularly excited about?

BappoHOST
13:53
yeah i i completely agree my only problem is i've been burnt way too many times before over the last few years i think i had i had them perennially as glass ceiling breakers on the on the genizio and considering the investment they made at the time and And their transfer policy at the time, which I thought made total sense when they had the likes of Guiri, Calimundo joining, Ludovic Blas.
BappoHOST
14:15
You know, these were talented young players who knew Ligue 1 and who demonstrated real ability in Ligue 1.
BappoHOST
14:22
With Francaise now, I think it's a different mentality.
BappoHOST
14:25
And in a way, I quite like it.
Mark O'HarePANELIST
32:50
Uh, I think Rennes are actually really undervalued in the top three finish market.
Mark O'HarePANELIST
32:53
If you can get on round about 5/1, they should go really well on the Franck Haise.
Mark O'HarePANELIST
32:57
Um, but yeah, I'm just not making this an official play because PSG have already played two semi-official games, I guess, this season, uh, the Super Cup and then the French Super Cup as well.
Mark O'HarePANELIST
33:06
So they might be slightly sharper, but even still, I thought that was an, an anomaly worth, uh, mentioning at least.
James NicholsGUEST
2:39
So I, I don't know if many of the listeners will know, but Rennes are also a Europa League team.
James NicholsGUEST
2:43
The manager, Franck Haise, is, like, very well respected in France.
James NicholsGUEST
2:47
He worked, funnily enough, he worked with Gazalfi.
James NicholsGUEST
2:49
So he worked under Gazalfi at Lens.
