Francine Maisler

Mm

... um, you were on the Sony lot, and you were in Francine Maisler's casting office for, it was a feature film.

I believe it was the Steve Jobs movie, and you were auditioning to play the daughter of Steve Jobs.

I think I do remember this a little bit.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So, and Francine Maisler is an amazing casting director.

I think she was just nominated for an Oscar in this last year.

You can see everything.

Big, beautiful theater, packed house, the Q&A afterward with Tom Cruise, Iñárritu, Sandra Huller, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Francine Maisler, the casting director.

Right.

And they just kept talking about, it was just, it was so great to play, just this sense of play.

I'm just going to call her up and DM her or something.

But like, and that's where I think some of the, the like functionality is missing with newer actors where they're like, Oh, we're not going to try to go meet with Francine Maisler.

We'll get in with her associate maybe, or maybe an assistant.

And then they can meet people that way.

This is one of those awards that had the five-person presentation team, and she was the one who talked about Kula Kundis before they opened the envelope.

I don't think Del Rey Lindo was too happy about the Sinners casting agent Francine Maisler not winning.

He was on stage too as part of that five-person team and seemed put out.

when Kulakundis was up there on stage.

Lindo had the Angela Bassett reaction when Jamie Lee Curtis won instead of her.

Kulakundis was gracious and fun during her speech, talking about how she and Anderson had been working together for so long.

She started as an associate casting agent on Boogie Nights.

That made light of the fact that she won an Oscar before he did.
