Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center

I worked at Vassar College, where I also taught.

and worked at the Loeb Art Center, which is Vassar's on-campus art museum.

And it was there at Vassar that I staged a little exhibition on women's samplers from the 18th and early 19th centuries, taking a fresh look at these objects and kind of thinking about their scholarly interpretation as formulaic objects, objects that were primarily made for educational purposes.

And I kind of thought to myself, wait, this kind of feels like maybe a sexist interpretation of what samplers are.
