Foundation Stone

A couple of days earlier, Hashem created the world.

And Hazal, the rabbis teach us, where did Hashem create the world from? What was the makom? What was the place, the physical location from which Hashem created the world? So the Gemara in Yom Ha, as well as in different Midrashim, the Rabbis teach us, Hashem created the world from the foundation stone.

There's a special rock, a special stone, and from that Makom, Hashem created the whole world.

And And the rabbis ask, where is this Makom? Where is the Eben Shetiyah? And they explain it's in Yerushalayim, right underneath the Holy of Holies, the Kodesh HaKodeshim, where eventually the Beit HaMikdash is going to be built, where eventually we're going to have the Aron, the Holy Ark.

So right there in front of the Ark, that's the Kodesh HaKodeshim, that's the Eben Shetiyah, that is the foundation stone that Hashem created the whole world from.

You know, today there's a big dome that covers the dome of the rock, protecting that stone.

But that is, according to Chazal, the Makom that Hashem created the world.

Mm-hmm

... about the Foundation Stone.

They don't know that that covers what is believed by many to be a site that is literally called the Well of Souls, where people believe that souls are waiting for the final judgment, or that it's a gate to hell.

And this can sound very fantastic, and I fully understand and believe that, but I do think it's important for people to always be aware that even if you don't believe certain things, you, you do need to understand that there are others who do, and they, they truly believe in this, and that is affecting their actions, and often they're taking actions that affect you.
