Fortuna Bay

They scaled a ridge and at the top were slapped hard in the face by an icy blast.

They cast their eyes down onto Fortuna Bay, but beyond to the east they saw a familiar sight, a distinctive rock formation that they all knew well.

For seafarers and whalers, this formation identified Stromnus Bay.

They turned to each other and once again shook hands.

After three hours, they reached Fortuna Bay and walked along its beach, which consisted of glacial mud so thick it nearly pulled off their boots.

Along the beach, frozen seals lay where they'd been shot and abandoned.
