Forge World

Yeah, exactly.

And so with Old World, that is part of the SDS, so Specialist Design Studio, which formerly was known as Forge World.

And that business is separate in almost its entirety in manufacturing, not manufacturing, sorry, design, like concepting, artwork, rules, book writing, painting, book layout, box layout, and then it eventually gets sent to the actual manufacturing company, which is a separate business in the company.

So when you all talk about Games Workshop, when you talk about Old World, you specifically talk about SDS.

And that brings us to the schism and the kind of impact it's had.

What kind of impact would you say it's had on Old World since launch or even before launch? And how monumental is the impact, do you think?

Um, so yeah, so like the, the, the schism actually like, and even to give even broader context to that, because this is going to be a big part of why we think it's maybe cooling was that the first thing to really go was the, was between we'll call it GW main studio, formerly forge world nest.

Yes.

I'll agree.

Well, they've had that resin one from Forge World.

Oh, the older one that's been around for a bit now? That

was a Captain, I thought.

Oh, yeah.

So the Lathe Worlds are massive Forge Worlds now.

They have been given entirely over to factory complexes and machine temples and production facilities.

The Lays are politically independent of the sector governance.

Uh-

Like Forge World have done in the past.

Sure, yeah.

Forge World have done.

Sure.

It would look a bit weird, right?

All the fingers being separate pieces and all this stuff.

Yeah.

Hopefully it's the thing to come now with big guys.

You know, they have stopped making their resin models through Forge World.

So, you know, I like the fact...

Not only do these models come with three different versions that you can make, but being in plastic, they are far easier to model and customize yourself.

I need to go look at those models.

Do you remember back in the day you used to have Black Library would give you models, Forge World will give you models, Specialist Games will give you models.

Then there was the main models from Warhammer itself.

At one time, there were four different entities producing models under the umbrella of Games Workshop.

But everyone else is in a state of they need more detail and highlights.

Mostly... edge highlighting and weathering things like that but they've had sort of the base coats down on them so there's look first of all at thalos himself thalos the thrice cursed because he had been cursed three times and each time he was cursed he was gifted a little nergling familiar so one of the curses was him losing his hand which has been replaced with a chainsword so this miniature like most of the others is based on the very old forge world resin traitor guard miniatures that combined resin upgrade kits for the very old plastic cadian guardsman this one has had the most work because he did have an original form but the That model wasn't very good and it also wasn't particularly WYSIWYG and I really loved the idea of him sort of leaning over something or kneeling on something and originally it was going to be using his pistol sort of aiming it but that didn't really work with what he was actually able to be equipped with.

So I ended up converting him slightly inspired by Ash from the Evil Dead.

I really wanted to have the chainsword and therefore the shotgun seemed the most appropriate.

Um, then, uh, and then with the, you know, [laughs] if you wanna go break the bank, either with the original, like, uh, big hat, pewter, um, uh, you know, '90s sculpts, uh, i- if you wanna break the bank and get yourself an army of those 'cause that's what you, your, your childhood, uh, uh, piece of you wants.

Uh, or if you're like Robbo and absolutely love the Forge World a- aesthetic, aesthetic, um, that's what you want.

You can also break the bank and go do that.
