When you grow up in Forest Hill, California, you can look over the canyon and see Coloma.

And so all of our field trips in elementary school were at the Gold

Rush site.

I'm just going to believe you.

Listen, you could ride your bike down to the river in Yankee Gyms near Forest Hill and you could find people still panning for gold on a regular

basis.

Yeah.

I, I was part of, like, the big entourage following you through Foresthill.

And as you came in, um, just kind of videoing you and just observing, like, obviously the energy was there.

But as you got, you know, one block from entering that trail again, uh, I was kind of following you, and I, I just said like, "Go Hans," or something like that, or like, "Rooting for you." I can't remember what I said.

I slowly, throughout the race, like, my, my carb intake was getting lower and lower.

Mm-hmm.

And, um, I think I first started to feel a little bit of, like, that, like, I don't have enough carbs in me fatigue, as I was kind of entering Foresthill, like, right as, like, Francesco caught me.

Um, but I actually left Foresthill with a lot of hope, because, uh-

You know, once I was able to take the lead of the race, then, uh, nobody was able to come back and catch me.

So Vincent is the only athlete that has ever been able to do that, and it felt like a little bit of a surprise because once I got the lead after Foresthill, I thought I almost had it, and that was not true.

Um, and I don't know.

Uh, obviously, you know, he played, uh, his cards, uh, better than, than mine, but yeah, it's, uh, it's definitely something that surprised me, not that I was, uh, necessarily expecting to win, but I don't know.
